Yarra Road Primary School celebrated it 80th year of
service to the local community in 2005. The school, located north-west
of Croydon, has a current student population of 363 drawn from families
living in established houses, and an increasing number of new dwellings.
Parents and staff are committed to encourage all children to achieve
their maximum potential - intellectually, physically, emotionally,
culturally and socially - by promoting a safe, caring and purposeful
school environment.
Yarra Road Staff and Parents support:
- An
individual learning program for children which balances acquisition of
basic skills in language and mathematics with involvement in an
extensive range of enrichment and cultural experience.
- An environment which fosters an active partnership between parents and teachers.A staff professional
development program designed to meet professional needs
- Management
involving school council, principal and senior staff, which provides
leadership and guidance to the school and its community.
- Communication, with Yarra Road parents, wider community, surrounding primary and secondary schools and
the D of E, which facilitates knowledge of the school's goals and activities.
- An
accountability program in which school council and principal are
responsible for over viewing school programs and operations and
reporting of progress to parents and community
