SCHOOL STRATEGIC PLAN WRITING – COMMUNITY CONSULTATION

Currently we are very busy writing our School Strategic Plan which maps out the planning and directions for our school over the next four years. About a month ago I invited parents to be involved in this process through their participation in the development of our School Values, Purpose and Vision statements for this plan. A number of parents have indicated their interest and the first community meeting for this process will be conducted at the school beginning at 7.30 p.m. next Monday evening. Any parents wishing to be involved are welcome to attend this meeting which we anticipate will take somewhere between 1½ to 2 hours and will be conducted in the staff room.

RIDE2SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS

Two of our Grade 6 students, Bethany Dunn and Lincoln Macdougall, were very happy to each be presented with a new bike and helmet at Monday Morning’s School Assembly. These presentations were made as part of our association with Bicycle Victoria and their drive to encourage students to ride to school and to gain the benefits of this healthy form of recreation. Our Grade 6 students completed a survey about their bike riding habits and, based on these results and our knowledge of the students, Beth and Lincoln were selected to receive the bikes as ambassadors and role models for the Ride2School program. In this role they will be contacted at various times over the next 12 months by Bicycle Victoria to find out about their experiences with their new bikes. Well done to them both and best wishes for many happy times ahead on their new bikes.

ROCKETS FUTURE STARS BASKETBALL TEAMS

Congratulations to our Grade 3 Rangers and Rockets Future Stars Hooptime Basketball teams that competed in the Regional Finals of this competition at the Kilsyth Basketball stadium last Friday. Playing against predominantly Grade 4 teams who were much bigger and stronger than our players, both teams proved to be very competitive on the day. Well done to both teams and their coaches Gary Maddern and Leanne O’Brien on their great efforts on the day. All though they didn’t win their section they all had a great day as the following photograph shows.

PREP ALPHABET PARTY

Well done also to our Preps who held their Prep Alphabet Party and presentation for a large audience of parents and grandparents in the Gymnasium on Tuesday morning. Whilst their singing of alphabet songs was the highlight of the day they also looked sensational in their bright and colourful outfits. Of course the party was to celebrate their learning of the alphabet and our congratulations go to each of them for their great work.

 Have a great week.
